An advisory firm built for the delivery problem, not the diagnosis problem.
South Africa does not lack analysis of its economic challenges. It lacks institutions with the capability to convert analysis into outcomes. NEXEC exists in that gap.
Why NEXEC exists.
NEXEC was established on the understanding that youth unemployment and economic marginalisation cannot be resolved through protest alone, nor through policy intent that fails to translate into delivery.
It therefore positions young people not as symbolic participants in the economy, but as professional actors, advisors, designers and implementers within it. That is a structural claim, not a rhetorical one: it requires a firm with genuine advisory capability, institutional credibility and the discipline to be held to its recommendations.
NEXEC positions itself deliberately between the state, capital and young people. It translates youth realities into institutional language, and institutional mandates into implementable economic interventions. This intermediary role is central to its identity and purpose.
Through its work, NEXEC supports institutions to design, structure and deliver economic solutions that are credible, implementable and measurable — across the public sector, the corporate sector, development finance and civil society.
What we are for
To close the distance between economic intent and economic delivery in South African institutions — and to make the youth economy a professional participant in that work rather than its subject.
How we are built
A private advisory firm with two client-facing practices, nine service lines, eight technical sub-councils and a national convening platform — structured so that advice, evidence and convening reinforce one another.
What we hold to
Global strategy consultancy rigour, applied to South African institutional realities. Evidence-based insight, practical implementation, measurable impact — and a willingness to say the uncomfortable thing early.
A five-stage method, applied consistently.
NEXEC does not sell insight. It sells the distance between an institution's stated intent and its demonstrated delivery — closed through a method that is the same whether the client is a district municipality or a listed corporate.
Diagnose
We establish what is actually happening before proposing what should. Diagnostic work is evidence-led, institution-specific and deliberately uncomfortable where it needs to be.
Design
Solutions are built to fit the institution's real capability, budget and political economy — not an idealised version of it.
Structure
We convert design into instruments: business cases, delivery models, governance arrangements, indicator sets and procurement pathways.
Deliver
Where required we stay through implementation, embedding capability rather than substituting for it.
Measure
Every mandate carries a measurement logic from the outset, so that impact claims can survive independent scrutiny.
Six commitments that govern the work.
These are not values statements. They are constraints we accept on what we are willing to sell and how we are willing to sell it.
Evidence before advocacy
We do not begin from a position. We begin from what the data, the institution and the political economy actually support.
Implementable or not worth writing
A recommendation that cannot be executed inside the client’s real capability and budget is not advice. It is decoration.
Capability, not dependency
Our objective in every public mandate is that the institution needs us less at the end than at the beginning.
Measurable by design
Measurement logic is built at inception, not retrofitted to justify a result.
Young people as professionals
Youth participation in our work means real mandates, real accountability and real remuneration — not symbolic presence.
Institutional discretion
Much of our work touches sensitive political and commercial ground. Confidentiality is a standing condition of engagement.
A short institutional history.
NEXEC is a young firm by design. It was built after the diagnosis of South Africa’s delivery problem was already well established, and structured specifically to act on it.
Incorporation
NEXEC is registered as a private company (2024/462647/08) to professionalise the participation of young people in South Africa’s economic life.
First institutional mandates
Early engagements with provincial institutions establish the intermediary model between the state, capital and the youth economy.
Sub-council structure established
Technical divisions are constituted across infrastructure, health, agriculture, arts and creative economy, transport and tourism, advanced technology, and women’s advocacy — each staffed by qualified sector specialists.
Research function formalised
A standing publication programme is introduced with defined evidentiary standards and peer review.
National platform at scale
The convening calendar expands to summits, dialogues, investment forums, roundtables and awards across multiple provinces.
Continental positioning
Extension of the model into selected African markets where the state–capital–youth intersection presents comparable structural challenges.
Multidisciplinary by necessity.
Our team combines expertise in strategy consulting, public policy, economics, governance, research, communications, project management, institutional development and stakeholder relations. Complex institutional problems do not respect disciplinary boundaries, and neither do our teams.
Strategy & Economics
Growth diagnostics, sector analysis, investment cases and economic modelling.
Public Policy & Governance
Policy design, regulatory reform, institutional architecture and oversight.
Research & Evaluation
Primary research, evaluation design, measurement systems and evidence standards.
Delivery & Engagement
Programme management, stakeholder relations, communications and public participation.
